This Chipotle Aioli is a flavorful yet versatile addition to a number of different recipes. It’s creamy, spicy, slightly tangy, and super easy to make!
What is aioli?
Although traditionally the word aioli refers to a sauce made up of olive oil, mashed garlic, and salt, the aioli most people know refers to a creamier, mayo-based sauce that can be seasoned in different ways.
We’re making the creamy mayo-based aioli today…and it’s seasoned with chipotle peppers!
Ingredients
- Mayonnaise and Sour Cream – typical aioli just uses mayo as the base but I love the tangy flavor that sour cream adds in this one.
- Garlic – adds a subtle kick of nutty flavor.
- Lemon Juice – gives the aioli a citrus-y tang.
- Chipotle Peppers in Adobo Sauce – the chipotle in this aioli adds tons of spicy, smoky flavor to offset the creaminess of the mayo and sour cream.
- Salt, Black Pepper, Onion Powder, and Cumin – a simple blend of spices that brings out other ingredients and adds even more flavor.
