These crunchy homemade bagel chips are crispy, salty, and addicting. The perfect pairing for your favorite dip, cheese, or soup!
Why you’ll love these
- Crunchy. Your favorite, chewy bagel magically becomes toasty and crispy after a quick bake in the oven! The perfect vessel for any dip.
- Better than store-bought. Because they’re so easy to make, whip these up in a moments notice; they’re fresher and tastier than store-bought!
- Versatile. Eat ’em right out of the oven or pair with your favorite party dip.
Ingredients
- Oil – extra virgin olive oil coats the bagels to promote a crispy texture without burning. Another oil such as avocado oil or even melted butter may be used instead.
- Seasonings: Parmesan, Garlic, Salt, and Pepper – parmesan adds a nutty flavor, but may be omitted if you’d like to keep this recipe dairy free. Use pre-minced jarred garlic to keep the prep extra quick and easy. Play around with different cheeses and spices depending on what dip you’re serving these with.
- Bagels – plain bagels were used in the original recipe, but another flavor like everything bagel, asiago, or blueberry would be great! Keep in mind, if you change the flavor of the bagel, you’ll likely need to switch up the seasonings.
How to make
- Toss bagel slices with oil, parmesan, garlic, salt and pepper in a large bowl.
- Bake at 375 degrees F on a rimmed baking sheet until golden brown and crispy.
- Cool, dunk, and enjoy!
Variations
- Switch up the seasonings. Try adding red pepper flakes, use everything bagel seasoning, or swap the parmesan for another cheese.
- Use another bagel. Anything goes! Try blueberry, cinnamon raisin, everything, asiago…whatever you have lying around.
- Make them sweet. Toss plain, cinnamon raisin, or blueberry bagel slices in melted butter or coconut oil, then toss with cinnamon sugar and bake as directed.
Can i make bagel chips in the air fryer?
Yes! Preheat air fryer to 350 degrees F, arrange prepared bagel slices in a single layer, then air fryer for 5-7 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. Repeat with remaining bagel slices and enjoy!
Tips
- Use a sharp serrated knife. Cut the bagel in half then slice into 1/8 inch strips.
- Avoid overcrowding. When baking, be sure the bagel slices are spaced out and in a single layer to promote a crispy texture.
