Ingredients
You need just one ingredient to make classic french fries in the air fryer.
- Frozen French Fries – use your favorite variety! I use frozen Ore Ida Extra Crispy Fries Seasoned Crinkles, because I love that they come pre-seasoned.
How to make
These air fryer frozen french fries take 1 minute to prep…yep, that’s it!
- Place frozen french fries into air fryer basket with the air fryer preheated to 400ºF.
- Air fry for 15-25 minutes, stirring halfway through.
- Serve as desired and enjoy!
How long to cook frozen french fries in an air fryer
Frozen french fries will air fry at 400ºF for 15-25 minutes. You’ll know they’re done when the fries are hot and fluffy in the middle and crispy on the outside. Timing will also depend on how you like your fries — softer fries require less time; crisper fries need more!
Do frozen fries need to be thawed before air frying?
Do not thaw frozen fries before air frying. Dump the fries in frozen, air fry, and they’re ready to go!
Do you need to season frozen french fries?
It depends on the variety you’re using. Some frozen french fries come pre-seasoned and other don’t. It should be clearly labeled on the package.
If you’d like to season your fries, here are some ideas:
- Salt
- Pepper
- Seasoned salt
- Cayenne or chipotle powder for a little kick
- Cajun seasoning
- Garlic and/or onion powder
Can you use different fries?
Any variety of frozen fries will work. Keep in mind, different brands/shape of fries may require different cooking time. Start with 15 minutes and add more time as necessary.

What to serve with french fries
Fries are delicious on their own but you can’t go wrong with a main dish to serve alongside them.
How to store
French fries are best served right away, but they will keep in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-5 days after they are air fried.
To reheat, bake or air fry at 350º for 3-4 minutes or until re-crisped.
