This ground turkey fried rice was created, because I was in a serious dinner rut, didn’t have any leftovers, and had zero interest in going to the grocery store.

It was also a week night so I didn’t want to go out to eat, get delivery, and still wanted to eat something healthy.

Whoa.

So I looked it my fridge, threw together a little bit of this, a little bit of that and

BOOM.

Ground turkey fried rice, my friends.

Bowl of fried rice above
I love love LOVE quick easy healthy flavor bomb week night dinners like this ground turkey fried rice.

If you cook any Asian inspired food at all, you probably already have these ingredients on hand.

Plus, I had leftover brown rice from my slow cooker thai chicken soup and leftover raw ground turkey that I didn’t use from my turkey tacos recipe.

This dinner practically made itself. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Plus, I mean, who doesn’t LOVE fried rice.

Bowl of fried rice held with chopsticksPlus, plus, I actually think this tastes better than most delivery/take out fried rices. ๐Ÿ™‚ Don’t believe me? What are you waiting for? Go make some!

You’ll start by melting some coconut oil in a large skillet.

Once melted, stir in ground turkey, onion, carrot, garlic, ginger, and black pepper.

Next up? Soy sauce, seasoned rice vinegar, hoisin, and chili garlic sauce. You can use as much or as little of the garlic sauce as you’d like! For me? The more the better, because we loooooove spicy food in the Debth household.

Then. The egg. Scramble it up in the pan. Easy peasy.

The next step of this ground turkey fried rice is um, the RICE. And peas. Add ’em both in. I used leftover brown rice to keep this nice and healthy, but feel free to use white rice if that’s what you have on hand.

Side view of ground turkey fried rice closeupAlso. Peas. I know some people hate ’em. I personally don’t feel like you can really taste the peas, they’re there more for a pop of color and texture. If you reeeeeeally hate them though, feel free to use edamame like I do in my quinoa fried rice instead!

Lastly, drizzle on a little sesame oil (it adds amazing flavor) and garnish with cilantro, green onions, sesame seeds, and maybe a little dash of sriracha for even more heat if you’d like!

This ground turkey fried rice is seriously packed with flavor and is SO much healthier than take out.

It tastes better. It’s ALMOST as easy. AND it’s healthier.

Yeahhhhhh.

I’m kind of just a little bit obsessed with ground turkey fried rice.

5 stars Just made this tonight for dinner and it is amazing! Just a heads up for others – 1/2 tablespoon of the chili garlic sauce was plenty of heat. If you have picky eaters when it comes to spicy food, then Iโ€™d put even less chili garlic sauce in. It was a little too spicy for my 2 and 4 year old. With that said, it was perfect as written for my taste!

5 stars This is the best tasting recipe to make if you’re short on time and have leftover rice. Wow…..so good. My husband walked in from work and offered to help me with dinner, then someone showed up at the house to pick up a patio set we were selling so he said, I gotta help this guy load it up and then I’ll help you. He walked in the back door 15minutes later and said, what smells so amazing? And I said, dinner is ready let’s eat. No joke. And we devoured it, I have 2 teenage boys, lol. My only tweak was that I used a full pound of turkey rather than just a half, which required a couple extra tbsp of the sauces. I topped it with chopped peanuts, cilantro and extra sciracha cuz that was all I had on hand. Will make again, many thanks!!

5 stars Just yummy, great dish! Made this with quinoa, since I didnโ€™t have rice available and knew the quinoa would cook in the time I prepared the other ingredients; also grated fresh ginger. My husband said he is looking forward to this leftover dish. I doubled the recipe using 1 lb. ground turkey and 2 cups cooked quinoa. Like the idea of using cauliflower rice. Will give that a try next time.

5 stars Wow! I have never made fried rice before and this is my second time to eat ground Turkey and even though I replaced the brown rice with riced cauliflower in this recipe I followed step by step everything else and it was awesome! My husband and I are trying to eat healthier and this recipe is a keeper.

5 stars This looks great ! And as a Dad who doesnโ€™t really have time to cook, and who is also new to cooking I think this is something I can do . I will try tonight ! Question I have is if I can use a regular frying pan ?

Should be fine! You might need more oil to prevent sticking. Thanks Jerome!
