This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Snapple® Straight Up™ Tea! The opinions and texts are all mine. We seriously appreciate this opportunity to remember to take some time to step back and refresh this summer!
You guys. I’m kind of extra pumped about today’s post, because it’s totally different than anything I’ve ever done for Show Me the Yummy. Today, we’re takin’ a little break from the food. . .
*gasp*
. . .to talk about life.
Don’t worry, the food’s coming back tomorrow and you guys are gonna love it. Promise.
But, food is only half of what Show Me the Yummy is all about. The other half, is. . . us!
Hi guys!
I know a lot of you come to this little food blog just for the recipes (seriously thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!, for making and enjoying the recipes), but I know there are some of you who come for the stories, too. So today, I want to take some time to talk about what we’ve been up to this summer.
You ready?!
If you’ve met us IRL (in real life 😉 ), you know that both Trevor and I are serious workaholics.
When you work from home, your work is literally always with you. When we’re playing darts (yes. if you follow us on Instagram stories, you saw that Trevor got a new toy) or even watching our favorite TV show – yes. we LOVE Bachelor in Paradise, can you blame us?! – we’re literally 10 feet from our “offices”.
If Trevor and I don’t have an activity planned, we’ll end up working, because. . . well. . . we’re here, so why not and we’re not doing anything anyway.
See. We’re workaholics.
This summer, however, we’ve been trying really hard to actually ENJOY the gorgeous weather and take some time for ourselves. That means not working on weekends (for the most part – old habits die hard, amiright?!), ending the days at an appropriate time, and actually taking a lunch hour to take Teddy on a walk.
Thank goodness for Teddy, because without him, I don’t think we’d ever leave the house. 😉
This summer, we’ve made it a priority that no matter what, we HAVE to take that hour out of our day and take Teddy for a walk.
He needs it. We need it.
It’s amazing how just getting outside for an hour can completely reset and refresh your afternoon. Especially when jobs these days tend to all revolve around being inside on a computer all day. . .
Or being inside taking photos. . .
Or being inside planning your editorial calendar. . .
You get the idea, we all need to get outside more. 😉
Usually, we go around noon, and hellloooo the noon hour in August, in Wisconsin, is totally TOASTY, so we’re always sure to bring a cold beverage. Sometimes it’s water, it used to be coffee (hellllooo caffeine crash at 5 PM), but more recently we’ll grab a Snapple Straight Up Tea. I’m obsessed with the Unsweetened while Trevor’s a fan of the Sorta Sweet. Whether you’re into unsweetened or sweet – there’s definitely a flavor for you. Our local Hy-Vee has #alltheflavors, so it’s fun switching it up from day to day. Which – side note – unsweetened may be my fave, but the Sorta Sweet Honey Green is killer. Whatever you choose, I promise you’re making a good choice, because they’re all gluten free, all natural, and use REAL sugar (except for the unsweetened, because, um, it’s unsweetened AND has zero calories – woot woot!). Not to mention that Snapple Straight Up Tea is a premium product and has the true tea taste that we love.
We’ve been doing a pretty good job of doing this every day, and honestly, that habit has expanded into the weekends, where we’ll walk downtown to enjoy Lake Mendota and make the most of our summer.
It’s been so refreshing and so so nice for us.
I’m sure we’ll go back to our old habits once cooler weather and the holidays roll around, but for now? We’re going to take some time, sip on a Snapple Straight Up Tea, make the most of our summer, and listen to Pandora’s True Tea Tunes station <– seriously. We ♡ Pandora on our walks. 😉
