Two words: Crack Dip.

You guyyyyyyyys. This Crack Dip is dangerously easy to make and even more dangerously easy to eat.

This dip is everything you love about food. It’s creamy, it’s full of bacon, it’s salty, it’s full of bacon, it’s cheesy, and yes, it’s full of bacon. 😉

It comes together in a matter of minutes – and HELLLLOOO there’s no cooking involved, so it’s a great last minute football party appetizer, but it can also be made in advance.

Word to the wise: don’t make this too far in advance, or you may or may not “taste test” it until it’s all gone and have to remake it. . .

Not like that happened to us or anything. . . 🙈

Chip dipped into crack dip

We. Are. Home.

Ughhh I have never been SO happy to be home.

Although the past month has been full of freaking amazing things – meeting new blogging friends, visiting our beloved Seattle, and eating #allthetacos 🌮 – I am so happy to just be home and sit and binge watch Netflix and oh yeah, eat all the Crack Dip.

Although we do have a ton of work to do (helllooooo SMTY Food Video Workshops), I’m trying to make the transition back to work a little easier by treating myself to snacks. 😉

Enter: Crack Dip.

Dip in bowl next to plate of crackers side view

How do you make bacon crack dip?

All you need to do is mix together:

  • cream cheese <– good start, yes? 😉
  • mayo
  • sour cream
  • cheddar cheese
  • green chiles
  • bacon (I cooked this in the microwave to keep things super simple)
  • ranch seasoning
  • garlic powder
  • chili powder
  • cayenne – for a little kick
  • salt

That’s. It.

How amazingly easy is that?!

The result is an ultra creamy, smoky, perfectly seasoned dip.

What do you serve with crack dip?

I’d highly recommend serving this Crack Dip with buttery Ritz Crackers or crunchy tortilla chips. The combination is mind.blowing.

But really.

You can serve any kind of crunchy vessel with this dip.

Once you start eating this dip, you’re never gonna stop. 😉

Anyone try this with low fat cream cheese and sour cream? The saturated fat is really high. Possibly substitute Greek yogurt for the mayo? Thanks

5 stars Thank you for this recipe! I’ve made it about a half dozen times now. Used Miracle Whip instead of Mayo in the last batch, and it was just as good (maybe better). It is becoming the family favorite over the usual beer dip. Little bit more effort, but will worth the time! Club crackers are perfect with it. Definitely my new favorite!

Keep in mind ranch dressing is much thinner than mayo, so the texture will be runnier.

I really liked the recipe except the Ranch dip had too much salt, it made the dip very salty and we like salt… so for someone that doesn’t use a lot of salt- this would be way to much!! This page wouldn’t let me rate with the stars.

Hi Angie! You could probably omit the bacon. You’ll definitely lose flavor, but it would still taste delicious, I bet! I believe they make vegetarian bacon/bacon bits, if you could find those!

5 stars Hi, Use a product called “Bacos”. It is made from soy flour, I believe. If you cannot find those,. try McCormick culinary artificial bacon bits- same thing. Enjoy ! : )

Real mayonnaise. Miracle Whip will be too sweet.

Thanks Elaine! I’ve never tried freezing cream cheese… I’d worry it might get chunky as it thaws. You could certainly try, but I can’t guarantee the results! Might be best to make it once you reach your destination 🙂 You could prep all the ingredients ahead of time!

I don’t have sour cream. Can I just use ranch dressing and leave the ranch mix out?

5 stars Thanks Jennifer. This dip is amazing! Of course being the glutinous guy I am, I used almost a whole pound of bacon and about 12 oz of sharp cheddar. I also use some Hungarian paprika and homemade habanero sauce. I’ve tried it with a variety of crackers and chips, my favorite is pretzel chips. And for the person who asked it is obviously called crack because it is so addictive! Cheers!

5 stars MAN OH MAN!! We’re you ever right. This is now one of my most favorite dips. Should have took time to post before now because I’m in process of making this my 4th or 5th time in 3 WEEKS. I just love grabbing those Ritz crackers and taking small break and re-fueling. Like my body needs more of that. Ha! Ha! Thanks so much for sharing. I always go down the list of ingredients first and instantly know if it will suite my taste and it’s the PERFECT Spicy just the exact way you said to make it. Thanks again will comment more with photos later about a few other recipes of yours with great results. Must Have same palates. THANK You Babsy J.
