These Ritz Bits Churros are crispy, sweet, salty, and cinnamon-y. This sweet treat is easy to make and even easier to eat!
Are these actually churros? No. Do they taste like an amazing cinnamon sugar treat? Yes! Are these easier to make than real churros? Yes! Are these easier to serve than churros? Yes! Do those three things equal a win in my book? YES! So, if you’re looking for a super fun, really addicting treat (especially for a Cinco de Mayo party), then look no further than these Ritz Bitz Churros!
Why you’ll love these
- Sweet, Salty, Cinnamon-y. These are incredibly addicting thanks to salty Ritz Bits, a homemade toffee coating, and a cinnamon sugar topping.
- Easy. If you’ve made Christmas Crack, then you can make these! It’s essentially the same thing, but we’re using Ritz Bitz instead of saltines and swapping the chocolate layer for cinnamon sugar.
- Festive. These have the same flavor of churros without all the hard work of making, piping, and frying a batter. Ritz Bits churros are loved by kids and adults alike, so I’d recommend bringing them to your Cinco de Mayo party!
Ingredients
- Cinnamon Sugar Mixture: Ground Cinnamon and Granulated Sugar – this is what gives the “churro” flavor. I enjoy a really pronounced cinnamon flavor, so I like using 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon to 3 tablespoons granulated sugar. If you want a more subtle cinnamon flavor, feel free to halve the ground cinnamon.
- Crackers – you’ll need 1 (8.8. oz) box peanut butter Ritz bits. Use regular Ritz (or anoher cracker/pretzel) if you’d like to keep this peanut free.
- Toffee: Butter, Brown Sugar, and Salt – unsalted butter and dark brown sugar were used in the original recipe, but salted butter and light brown sugar may be used as well. If using salted butter, reduce the additional salt by half.
How to make
- Lightly grease a rimmed baking sheetwith cooking spray, line it with a silicone baking mat, then place crackers side by side onto the prepared pan. Set aside.
- Place butter, brown sugar, and salt into a large saucepan, bring to a boil for 3 minutes, pour over crackers, then bake in at 350 degrees F for 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle the crackers with cinnamon sugar, then freeze before breaking into pieces and devouring!
How to store
Leftovers may be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 1 week or in the freezer for 3 months.
Enjoy straight from the fridge (more chewy) or freezer (harder).
