Ingredients
Less than 10 ingredients needed to make cookie dough!
- Almond Butter – helps to bind the other ingredients together while also adding a delicious but not overpowering nutty flavor.
- Maple Syrup – our natural sweetener for the dough! This also provides moisture. Feel free to try another sticky sweetener if you don’t have maple syrup on hand, but keep in mind, the flavor and texture will be affected.
- Dark Brown Sugar – helps achieve the classic cookie dough flavor. It adds just a little more depth than the maple syrup and provides a rich molasses flavor.
- Almond Flour – gives the cookie dough structure while keeping this recipe gluten-free! Unlike traditional all-purpose flour, which needs to be heat-treated to kill any bacteria before eating it raw, almond flour can be eaten raw right away.
- Salt – cuts the sweetness and brings out other flavors.
- Almond Milk – adds moisture to the dough. Use more or less depending on desired consistency.
- Vanilla Extract – adds warmth and depth of flavor.
- Chocolate Chips – use dairy free chocolate chips to keep this recipe vegan. Other mix-ins will work as well! Try peanut butter chips, butterscotch chips, or even M&Ms!

Is vegan cookie dough safe to eat?
This vegan cookie dough recipe is safe to eat raw!
Everyone loves cookie dough and usually we just accept the risk that comes with eating it. 😉 But with this vegan cookie dough, you don’t have to! No eggs, no flour…just a delicious sweet treat!
Can you bake this vegan cookie dough?
No. This recipe is designed to be enjoyed as dough. It’s lacking a couple of ingredients necessary (an egg substitute, a leavening agent, etc.) for making dough into cookies.
If you are looking for some yummy vegan cookie recipes, check out my vegan oatmeal cookies, these double chocolate almond butter cookies, or these oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.
Can you use a different nut butter?
I love the subtle flavor of almond butter in this recipe to keep a more classic chocolate chip cookie dough flavor, but others nut butters will work as well. Try peanut butter, cashew butter, or even macadamia nut butter! Whatever you choose, be sure to use an all-natural runny variety where the only ingredient listed is nuts (or nuts + salt).
How to store
Leftover vegan cookie dough will keep in an airtight container in the fridge for 5-7 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
To enjoy again, thaw in the fridge if frozen then devour! I bet frozen cookie dough bites (if you’ve chosen to scoop the dough into individual portions) would be delicious straight out of the freezer as well!
