Ingredients

  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 (2 pound) boneless pork shoulder
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt more to less to taste
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Buns, bbq sauce, and coleslaw for serving, if desired

Instructions

  • Grease a 6 quart crockpot with cooking spray, then pour in broth, vinegar, and soy sauce.
  • Place pork on top. Set aside.
  • In a small bowl, stir together brown sugar, smoked paprika, cumin, onion powder, dry mustard, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Stir in olive oil.
  • Rub the pork evenly with the spice/oil mixture.
  • Cover and cook on HIGH for 4 hours or LOW for 8 hours.
  • Shred, taste and re-season, if necessary, then enjoy!
