Air Fryer French Fries

These are the BEST Easy Air Fryer French Fries! They're crispy on the outside, fluffy in the middle, and perfectly seasoned! Oven directions for baked fries included.

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 1/2 pounds russet potatoes (about 2 large russets) peeled and sliced into 1/4 inch strips
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 - 1 teaspoon pepper (1 teaspoon gives it a real kick)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil


  • Dissolve the sugar in the warm water in a medium sized bowl.
  • Submerge sliced potatoes and soak for 30 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch, salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder. Set aside.
  • Remove potatoes from water, and dry thoroughly on paper towels.
  • Place dried potatoes into a gallon sized baggie.
  • Drizzle in olive oil.
  • Seal the baggie and shake until the potatoes are fully coated in the oil.
  • Sprinkle in spice mixture and again, seal, then shake until the potatoes are fully coated.
  • Preheat air fryer to 375 degrees F.
  • Working in batches* air fry for 10-15 minutes.
  • Place cooked fries onto a baking sheet, then into a warm oven (about 200 degrees) while the other batches of fries are cooking.
  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
