Ingredients

Savory Candied Pecans for Salads

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 (16 oz) bag pecan halves

Sweet Cinnamon Sugar Candied Pecans for Snacking & Gifting

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (16 oz) bag pecan halves

Instructions

Savory Candied Pecans for Salad

  • Preheat oven to 250 degrees F and line a rimmed baking sheet with a silicone mat. 

  • Mix sugar and salt in a gallon sized ziplock baggie.

  • Use a hand mixer to whisk egg white and water together in a separate bowl until VERY frothy.*
  • Toss pecans in the egg white mixture.
  • Pour nuts into bag, seal, and shake to combine.
  • Spread coated pecans into an even layer onto prepared baking sheet. 
Bake for one hour in the preheated oven, stirring every 15-30 minutes, until pecans are evenly browned.
  • Remove from oven and let cool completely before breaking them up and storing them in a sealed container.

Notes

*Really whip the egg whites until VERY frothy, they should quadruple (if not more) in size. This helps coat the pecans better and makes them crunchier.
