Oreo Frosting

This Oreo Frosting is a vanilla buttercream kicked up a notch! This whipped frosting is sweet, creamy, and packed with crushed Oreo cookies.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter room temperature
  • 4 cups powdered sugar sifted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 12 Oreos crushed (about a 1 1/2 cups cookie crumbs)*

Instructions

  • Using a stand (or hand) mixer, beat butter for 60 seconds in a bowl.
  • Slowly beat in powdered sugar and salt.
  • Drizzle in heavy cream and vanilla, then beat until well combined and fluffy, scraping down the sides as needed.
  • Gently beat in Oreos and decorate cake, cupcakes, cookies, etc. as desired!

Notes

*Use a Food Processor for the best results.
This frosting is thick! Use a medium cookie scoop or large cookie scoop to dollop frosting instead of piping. If piping is really important to you, be sure that the Oreos are very finely crushed and use additional heavy cream to thin the frosting to a pipe-able consistency.
