Breakfast Poutine Recipe

This Breakfast Sausage Poutine is made with french fries, homemade gravy, breakfast sausage, peppers, onions, and cheese curds!

Ingredients

  • 1 (1 1/2 pound) bag frozen french fries baked according to package directions
  • 1 (12 oz) package Smithfield Hometown Original Breakfast Sausage Links

Vegetables:

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 red pepper diced
  • 1/2 green pepper diced
  • 1/2 yellow onion diced

Gravy:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 3 cups low sodium beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • salt to taste

Other:

  • 4 large eggs cooked to your liking
  • Cheese curds

Instructions

  • Cook french fries according to package directions.
  • In a large straight edged saute pan, cook sausage according to stovetop package directions.

Vegetables:

  • In the same pan, melt butter over medium heat.
  • Once melted, add in peppers and onions, and cook about 5 minutes, or until veggies are cooked to your liking.
  • Season with salt and pepper, remove from pan, and set aside.

Gravy:

  • In the same pan, melt butter.
  • Once melted, whisk in flour, and cook for 60 seconds. stir constantly.
  • Slowly whisk in the broth, then whisk in ketchup, vinegar, worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and salt.
  • Bring the gravy to a simmer while whisking regularly and simmer for 5-10 minutes, or until desired thickness is reached.

Assembly:

  • Place fries in serving vessel of choice and top with sausage, veggies, and cheese curds.
  • Drizzle with desired amount of gravy and top with fried eggs.
  • Eat immediately!
