This no-cook Pizza Sauce Recipe is so simple and SO flavorful! Five minutes and you’re one step closer to the best pizza ever!
This homemade, no-cook pizza sauce is *almost* as easy as wrangling open a jar of store-bought pizza sauce. By the time I find Trevor to open the jar for me, I could’ve whipped up a batch of the homemade stuff in my blender! 😉
What is the difference between pizza sauce and spaghetti sauce?
Although similar, pizza sauce and pasta sauce are not quite interchangeable! There are a couple of differences.
- Consistency. Spaghetti sauce is thinner with a higher water content. Pizza sauce contains tomato paste so it’s thicker. Pasta sauce would likely make pizza crust soggy.
- Flavor. Pasta sauce is more basil-based while pizza sauce is more oregano-based. Pizza sauce also tends to contain more seasonings for a stronger flavor. This allows it to hold up better next to any pizza toppings!
Ingredients
These ingredients are so simple but SO yummy!
- Tomato Paste and Tomato Sauce – the base of the sauce. The tomato paste adds a deep, rich tomato flavor, while the tomato sauce thins it out to create a sauce!
- Garlic – gives that subtle nuttiness.
- Brown Sugar – adds a touch of sweetness to balance out the acidity of the tomatoes.
- Dried Basil, Italian Seasoning, Dried Oregano, Onion Powder, Ground Paprika, Salt, and Pepper – a classic, simple but super flavorful seasoning blend.
How to make
This pizza sauce recipe couldn’t get any easier! Just throw everything in your blender and mix it up!
- Place all ingredients in a high-powered blender.
- Blend until smooth then serve and enjoy!
Do you need to use tomato paste?
Yes! The tomato paste helps create a rich, tomato flavor and also thickens the sauce which is necessary when it comes to pizza sauce. Thinner sauce will make the pizza crust soggy!
Can you use fresh tomatoes?
You can, but you’ll want to use them to whip up a homemade tomato sauce! I prefer to use canned tomato sauce for convenience, BUT that recipe is very simple and some people don’t enjoy the taste of canned tomato products.
