This Thai Peanut Sauce is insanely creamy, packed with flavor, and so versatile! Use this 5 minute recipe as a sauce for pasta or pizza, a dip for spring rolls, or even as a salad dressing.
This Thai peanut sauce is SO easy, so versatile, and oh yeah, SO DELICIOUS! Pour it over noodles, use it as a pizza sauce, drizzle it over a salad, or just drink it with a straw. 😉
However you choose to use it, this peanut sauce is HEAVEN!
Ingredients
This perfect combination of ingredients creates the tangiest, creamiest, saltiest, most delicious peanut sauce ever.
- Peanut Butter – I use an all-natural, no-sugar-added variety to keep this healthy!
- Rice Vinegar and Lime Juice – adds a delicious tanginess to offset the creaminess of the peanut butter.
- Soy Sauce – adds a salty, umami flavor that pairs really well with the rich peanut butter.
- Fish Sauce – gives the peanut sauce that Thai flavor, but omit if vegan or vegetarian.
- Sesame Oil – adds a nutty, Asian flair.
- Sriracha – more or less to taste. I like mine extra spicy! Spice it up even more with a sprinkle of red pepper flakes!
- Garlic Powder and Ground Ginger – the perfect combination of spices to create this Asian-inspired sauce. I love dried herbs for their concentrated flavors and subtle texture. I also ALWAYS have these on hand.
How to make
Because this Thai peanut sauce is so easy to make, I LOVE it for last minute dinner recipes. This sauce + frozen veggies + whatever pasta you have on hand = dinner ready in under 30 minutes!
- Place all the ingredients in a bowl, food processor, mason jar, or blender.
- Mix until well-combined. Thin out with water if necessary, then serve and enjoy!
What peanut butter to use for Thai peanut sauce
Use an all-natural, no sugar added, just nuts variety for thai peanut sauce. This keeps the recipe healthy and free from super processed ingredients. It’s also thinner than processed peanut butter, so it creates a better texture. Because it just contains nuts, you also have more control over how sweet and salty the final sauce is.
If you don’t have all natural peanut butter on hand, feel free to use more processed peanut butters like Jiff and Skippy. You could even try a crunchy peanut butter for extra texture!
Can i use a different nut butter?
I highly recommend all natural peanut butter for the best texture and flavor, but if you have a peanut allergy in the family, you can try using another nut or seed butter like almond butter, cashew butter, or sunflower seed butter!
Is this vegan?
Simply omit the fish sauce to make this Thai peanut sauce vegan. You will lose some of that yummy Thai flavor but it will still be delicious!
Is this gluten-free?
Soy sauce is NOT gluten-free. However, you can easily make this gluten-free by subbing the soy sauce out for tamari or coconut aminos.
Throw your thai peanut sauce on your favorite gluten-free pasta or drizzle it over these chicken lettuce wraps for a delicious and healthy gluten-free meal.
What can i use Thai peanut sauce for?
Here are some of my favorite ways to use this easy peanut sauce!
- As a dipping sauce. For chicken, tofu, or spring rolls.
- On pasta. Try these Thai peanut noodles.
- Over rice bowls. Sub it for the spicy mayo on this spicy tuna roll bowl for a Thai twist.
- As a dressing. Drizzle it on these Asian lettuce wraps or over a salad.
- As a pizza sauce. Give this easy Thai chicken naan pizza recipe a try!
How to store
This sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or in the freezer for up to two months.
If frozen, let the sauce thaw in the refrigerator overnight before using it. The sauce can then be reheated, if desired, in the microwave or on the stovetop.
What’s not to love?
